Livni to Solana: We expect world to back Israel's stance in peace talks

Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni met with the European Union's foreign policy chief Javier Solana Thursday, and spoke with him about the diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. "Even someone that supports two states for two peoples expects that the world in general and Europe specifically will support Israel's stance in the negotiations," Livni told Solana. "The need for Israel to assure its security in any situation and to ensure that there won't be a terror state or an extreme Muslim state alongside it; to guarantee that refugees won't be allowed into Israel; to consider the reality of the settlement bloc and to maintain places that are important for religious or strategic reasons - these are all issues without which we can't form two states for two peoples," she said.
