Magen David Adom rescue services said on Friday that a man was killed when he was hit by a passing train near Atlit junction just south of Haifa.

Emergency crews said that they received a distress call at 3:20 p.m. reporting that a man was run over by a train.

Medical personnel pronounced the man, who was in his 70s, dead on the scene. The circumstances of the incident remain unclear.
