Meretz chairwoman Zehava Gal-On on Monday accused former foreign minister Avigdor Liberman of "inciting war" by calling for a "thorough cleaning" of the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with Israel Radio, Liberman, the current head of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, called on the government to consider re-occupying the Gaza Strip and overthrowing Hamas.

"MK Liberman is provoking war and behaving irresponsibly from a political standpoint, which is typical of his way of doing things," she said.

Gal-On called on the prime minister to rein in members of his coalition.
