Ministers, Gantz to discuss NIS 4b. defense cut proposal

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, Finance Minister Yair Lapid and IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.- Gen. Benny Gantz were due to discuss on Sunday the Finance Ministry's proposed NIS 4 billion defense budget cut, Israel Radio reported.
Treasury officials said that if the defense cut was not made, other cutbacks and deductions would be necessary.
Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud) said defense officials were ready for certain cuts, but only to be implemented over a multi-year framework.
The government was scheduled to convene Monday to discuss the budget and defense cuts, after which Netanyahu was set to meet with the security cabinet.
