Muslim cleric moderately wounded by gunshots near Kfar Qassem

A Muslim cleric was shot and moderately wounded near the central Israel town of Kfar Qassem before dawn on Wednesday.
The cleric, who holds the position of qadi, or arbiter of Islamic law (sharia), is a man in his 50s who lives in the Triangle region.
The man was tended to by Magen David Adom rescue services and rushed to The Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva for treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
