NGO calls on Comptroller to investigate Danino-Benayahu meeting

The Movement for the Quality of Government in Israel late Saturday night called for State Comptroller Joseph Shapira to investigate an unreported meeting between Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino and former IDf spokesman Brig. Gen. (res.) Avi Benayahu in New York.
The NGO said that the meeting with Benayahu and his lawyer Zion Amir was problematic since the former IDF spokesman is under investigation for alleged involvement in the Harpaz Affair.
The Harpaz Affair has its roots in disputes between then-defense minister Ehud Barak and then-IDF chief-of-staff Lt. Ge. (res.) Gabi Ashkenazi, but has morphed into a massive criminal investigation into improper meddling in the appointment of Ashkenazi's successor by a range of top IDF brass from his tenure.
