The New York Police Department said Sunday that they have arrested over 100 members of various illegal criminal organizations in what the authorities are calling the biggest gang take-down in the state's history.

The alleged gang members were placed under arrest for various offenses, including numerous violent crimes and drug operations.

Police said at least 700 members of law enforcement took part in the investigation that lasted several years.
