NY Times: Hagel to step down as US defense secretary at Obama's urging

US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel was set to step down from his position on Monday, The New York Times reported.

According to the report, US President Barack Obama made the decision to ask Hagel to step down, believing that a different type of Pentagon chief, with different skills, would be needed to face the threat of the Islamic State terrorist organization.
