Nike to become MLB's uniform supplier in 2020

Nike will become the official uniform and footwear supplier of Major League Baseball, effective in 2020.

The league announced Friday a 10-year partnership with Nike. It also announced that Fanatics will distribute the merchandise for both online and retail sales.

All on-field uniforms, game-day outerwear and training apparel for MLB's 30 teams will feature the signature Nike swoosh.

"Nike's global brand and reputation as a leader in marketing and driving innovation makes them an ideal partner," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said. "In addition, Fanatics is a valuable partner who has proven to serve our fans with speed, agility and quality service. We're very excited about the possibilities this unique arrangement provides us over the next decade."

Nike already has endorsement agreements with more than 500 major- and minor-league players, including Mike Trout, Giancarlo Stanton and Jacob deGrom.

Under Armour had signed in 2016 to become the uniform supplier, replacing Majestic, but backed out of the deal last year.
