NEW YORK- A man was fatally shot and a woman injured in a morning rush-hour incident in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, police said.

The shooting at 50th Street and Eighth Avenue was reported at 8:28 a.m., said Detective Annette Shelton, spokeswoman for the New York City Police Department.

In addition to the man who was killed, Shelton said, ""We have a female victim who was either shot or stabbed."

She said the woman was in stable condition.

No further details were immediately available
