One person was killed and another was seriously injured in an accident at Kessem Interchange on Route 5 on Saturday afternoon. A van driving behind a Sedan slammed into it from behind. Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced the van driver dead on the scene. A paramedic speaking to Israel Radio said his team encountered great difficulty extracting the woman trapped in the smashed Sedan. She was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in serious condition. Route 5 was closed to traffic and drivers were advised to use Route 444.
