Yitzhak Molcho and Mike Herzog, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's envoys to peace talks in Washington, will return to Israel on Wednesday.
The two negotiators were engaged in discussions concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with US Middle East envoy George Mitchell and other officials.
"We have made progress" was the initial response from Jerusalem, despite statements that a situation assessment would be conducted only upon Molcho and Herzog's return.
Also in Washington was top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, who implored Israel to freeze settlement construction in order to move peace talks forward.
