Palestinians clashed with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank on Friday (May 19) during demonstrations in support of Palestinian inmates on hunger strike in Israeli prisons. Demonstrators blocked a road in Nilin which is used by Israeli settlers, and in Beit Dajan before they clashed with Israeli soldiers. Palestinians say the open-ended strike is a protest against poor conditions in prisons and Israeli policy of detention without trial that has been applied against thousands since the 1980s.
