WASHINGTON - The Pentagon said on Tuesday that the cost of fighting Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria has cost about $424 million since air strikes began on Aug. 8. Rear Admiral John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said the conflict was costing an average of about $7.6 million per day.
