Pentagon: Iranian fighter jet targets unarmed US drone

An Iranian fighter jet targeted an unarmed American drone over the Persian Gulf this week, CNN quoted a Pentagon statement as saying.

The unmaned MQ-1 drone was conducting a routine classified surveillance over international waters on Tuesday when it was approached by the Iranian F-4 jet, US Defense Department spokesman George Little said.

The two aircrafts came within 16 miles of each other, but no shots were fired. The Iranian jet departed after receiving a verbal warning.
