President Shimon Peres met with UN Mideast envoy George Mitchell on Monday afternoon.
The two spoke of the Iranian nuclear threat, the advancement of the peace process between Israel and its neighbors, and the strengthening of ties between Jerusalem and Washington.
During the discussion, Peres called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's support for a two-state solution a "meaningful" step in the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, and Mitchell noted a rise in support for the Arab peace initiative.
