President Shimon Peres on Monday expressed skepticism at the Russian proposal to place Syria's chemical weapons under international supervision in order to avoid a US strike on the country.

"The Russian compromise proposal will involve a negotiation, because the Syrians have shown that they are not trustworthy and that we cannot count on their integrity."Peres made the comments during an event marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Israel Press Council.
