President Shimon Peres met with French Foreign Minister Michele Alliot-Marie on Thursday, telling her that France should not despair of the peace process.

Peres said that the differences between the Israeli and Palestinian stances have gotten smaller, but the psychological difference is great, Israel Radio reported.

France's new foreign minister reportedly said that she is not familiar with the situation, and is here to learn.
