Environmental Protection Minister Amir Peretz and Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein helped one of three recovered sea turtles that were set free on Wednesday at the Israel Nature and Parks Authority’s Israel Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Moshav Mikhmoret.

Each year, about 3,000 sea turtles – members of a species in danger of extinction – are caught by local fisherman, according to the ministry.
