Peretz praises onset of natural gas

Environmental Protection Minister Amir Peretz praised the onset of the Tamar natural gas flow into Israel on Tuesday, noting that the gas will be an economic, social and environmental necessity. Similar to his predecessor Gilad Erdan, Peretz stressed the importance of minimizing gas export, particularly because the quantities in the second and larger reservoir of Leviathan are still unknown.
“We must do everything in order to keep natural gas as part of a long-term national operations in which the Israeli market will gradually use the gas in all fields,” Peretz said. “This transition will bring lower costs in economic activities of Israeli industry, will reduce costs of products in Israel and will also reduce the cost of living for families.”
