LIMA, Peru — A bus in Peru ran off a road and crashed nearly 600 feet (180 meters) down a ravine on Friday. Police said 22 people were dead and 39 injured.

Police told a local broadcaster that it appears the bus driver was trying to pass another vehicle Friday afternoon and lost control about 60 miles (92 kilometers) east of Lima.
