A suicide car bomb at a junction in the Somali town of Baidoa northwest of the capital and a suicide bomber at a nearby restaurant killed at least eight people on Sunday, a police officer said.
Somalia's al Shabaab Islamist group claimed responsibility.
"The restaurant and the junction were very busy and the death toll may rise," Police Major Bilow Nurr told Reuters, adding that 10 others were wounded in the attack on Baidoa, which lies about 245 km northwest of Mogadishu.
