Jerusalem police on Friday arrested a suspicious-looking Palestinian from east Jerusalem who was found to have a knife as he was walking near the President’s Residence in the capital.

The suspect, an 18-year-old male from the east Jerusalem village of Issawiya, was first noticed by a security guard at the President’s Residence on Hanasi Street in the Talbiyeh section of the capital.

The guard immediately notified the police officer on duty at the President’s Residence, who subsequently conducted a search on the suspect. The officer found the knife and promptly took the Palestinian into custody.
