Police arrest soldier, brother in suspicion of anti-Arab vandalism act

Police arrested on Tuesday a 19-year-old soldier from the Golani brigade and his 30-year-old brother on suspicion of spraying defamatory graffiti against Arabs. The soldier denied the allegations.

The two brothers were suspected of spray-painting buses in the West Bank with the slogans "death to Arabs" and "Mohammad is a pig" as well as puncturing the tires of two vehicles.

The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court extended on Wednesday the remand of the soldier by one day.

Adi Keidar, the lawyer representing the soldier called the arrest "outrageous," adding that it was "based solely on intelligence information that was received yesterday and there was no evidence linking [the soldier] to the incident".
