Police on Wednesday dismissed a young enlisted man serving in the police, after he wrote a racist comment on an article about an Israeli-Arab woman who was assaulted in Jerusalem on Tuesday afternoon.

At the end of the article, Ariel Shapiro wrote "that's great, it's a shame she didn't die the Arab whore."

Shapiro commented on the article by way of his Facebook page, so his name and photo appear next to the comment.

Shapiro was serving in the police as part of his compulsory national service. Police said Wednesday he will now finish his service in the army.
