Police near completion of Givat Amal evacuation

The police were near completion of all of the residents of the Givat Amal neighborhood in Tel Aviv, Israel Radio reported on Monday morning. The evacuation began at daybreak.
When the evacuation began, MK Ilan Gilon (Meretz), an advocate for the rights of the residents of the area, took to Facebook to call the public to action.
"Police have arrived and the evacuation of Givat Amal has begun. Please come to the site. I am here with the residents in their homes, there is violence, and no people are permitted to enter from outside," he wrote.
"I am calling on the police to act with restraint and with tolerance. Eight families should not be thrown in the street without any compensation. The Ministry of Housing and Construction and the Municipality of Tel Aviv must intervene," he added.
Developers plan to build a large-scale residential tower construction on the site.
