Pope Francis begins five-day visit to Mexico

Pope Francis arrived to Mexico City on Friday night on the start of a five-day visit to Mexico.
Throngs gathered in stadium bleachers to see the pope, who was welcomed by mariachi music and dancers, as well as child performers, in a colorful display fit for welcoming the pontiff.
Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and First Lady Angelica Rivera were also there to greet the pope as he stepped off the plane.
Pope Francis then visited with some of the performers and offered blessings to some youth and a disabled boy as he made his way down the tarmac. He also tried on a traditional Mexican sombrero, lent by a member of the mariachi band.
The pope, leader of the world's 1.2 billion Catholics, will visit some of the poorest and most violent corners of Mexico on his first visit as pontiff.
He will also head to the northern border to address the plight of migrants trying to reach the United States.
