Pope visits children's hospital in Mexico City

After delivering mass to hundreds of thousands in the Mexican barrio of Ecatepec, Pope Francis returned to Mexico City to visit a paediatric hospital in the capital on Sunday (February 14) where he thanked medical staff for their commitment in treating the young patients.

After a quick trip on helicopter, the pontiff was back in his popemobile where he greeted thousands of faithful who had lined the streets of the capital's iconic Reforma boulevard to welcome the head of the Holy See to the country.

Greeting him at the Federico Gomez Paediatric Hospital was Mexico's First Lady Angelica Rivera who introduced Pope Francis to 25 children eagerly awaiting his arrival.

After meeting with hospital staff, Pope Francis extended a special thank you for their efforts in treating the sick.
