Prof. Avi Weiss appointed executive director of Taub Center for Social Policy Studies

The Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel announced the appointment of Prof. Avi Weiss, former Chief Economist of the Israel Antitrust Authority, from the Department of Economics at Bar-Ilan University as Executive Director of the Taub Center on Wednesday.
Prof. Weiss has presided as a member of the senior faculty of Bar-Ilan University since 1988 and served as Chair of the Economics Department between 2005 and 2008. His area of expertise is Applied Economics and his credentials include serving as a former member of the Anti-Dumping Commission of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, former member of the Subcommittee on the Cost of Living and Competition of the Trajtenberg Commission on Social and Economic Change, and former consulting member of the Bachar Intra-Agency Committee for Reform of the Financial Sector.
Today, Prof. Weiss is a member of the Competition Task Force of Israel's Grand Strategy Forum.
"Under my leadership, our goal will be to present both positive findings and findings that present challenges to Israel's public policies, to explore policy alternatives for those currently in place and to recommend to policy-makers changes that can help them continue to lead the country in the desired directions," said Prof. Weiss.
