Prosor urges UN Security Council to condemn Hamas rockets following Sharon's funeral

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor urged on Tuesday the UN Security Council to condemn the rocket attack that followed the funeral of former premier Ariel Sharon the previous day.

"Yesterday morning, Israelis and foreign dignitaries gathered in southern Israel to pay tribute to former Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon. While a nation grieved its fallen leader, rockets began falling a short distance from the funeral service," Prosor wrote.
Prosor stressed that following Israel's disengagement from Gaza, that was initiated by Sharon, "Gaza has become a terrorist base used by Hamas to shoot rockets, carry out kidnappings, and launch attacks on Israeli citizens."
