Palestinian protesters on Friday afternoon threw stones at Israel Defense Force vehicles during weekly demonstrations in several Palestinian villages in the West Bank.

Army Radio reported stone throwing incidents in the village of Kalkilya, Nablus, and in Sinjil in Ramallah. In Hebron, Palestinian protesters threw stones at a military outpost.

Demonstrations in the West Bank have been ongoing in the past week following the death of  Palestinian detainee Maissara Abu Hamdiyeh, 63, who died of esophageal cancer in Soroka University Medical Center last Tuesday.

In spite of recent tensions, the IDF does not expect the protests will escalate, Army Radio reported.
