Qatar FM calls for direct U.S.-Iran talks

The Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has called for direct talks between the United States and Gulf Arab states and Iran, Iran's Azad News Agency reported.

Qatar's increasingly close ties with Iran led to an ongoing diplomatic row between the wealthy Gulf nation and powerful Sunni-majority Arab states Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates in June 2017.
