Ra'anana becomes first city to adopt green building code

Ra'anana became the first city in Israel to adopt the Israeli green building standard for all new construction this month.Standards Institution of Israel standard 5281 lays down specific guidelines for reducing the amount of resources a building consumes.Buildings contribute a surprisingly large amount of pollution and greenhouse gases.The decision comes amidst Mayor Nahum Hofree's attempts to turn Ra'anana into a sustainable city.
