Israel experienced record-breaking tourism in May, with 5% more tourists arriving than the year before, the Tourism Ministry published Tuesday. Of the 308,000 visitors in total that arrived in May, a total of 269,000 were tourists.

Of those visiting, 40,000 were one-day tourists (23% less than last year), and 16,000 arrived on cruise ships.

Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov yesterday launched Israel Week to promote Israeli tourism during his visit to Italy as a part of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's delegation.
