Far-left activist Barak Cohen harassed Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev and her family as they walked down Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv on Thursday.
Cohen followed the Regevs, recording himself as he called her garbage and a racist, and said that he would defecate on them. He also said Regev does not speak for all Mizrahi Jews and called her a bad Jew for entering a restaurant that serves shellfish.Regev’s teenage daughter, clearly upset, asked her father to make Cohen leave and told him she would sue him.
Cohen later posted the video on Facebook, and Regev wrote on the social network that she is “not bothered by this anarchist,” and that the police will take care of him. “It’s an unpleasant event, especially because it happened with my daughter. This is a price that a public figure and her children should not have to pay in our society,” Regev wrote.
Cohen has a pattern of going after the children of people with whom he disagrees. He has repeatedly harassed the daughters of Bank Leumi’s CEO, as part of his “Going to the Bankers” project, in which he protests outside the homes of the heads of Israel’s major banks.
