An al-Qaida-affiliated group on Thursday took responsibility for the firing of a Katyusha-type rocket into northern Israel two days earlier, according to an Israel Radio report citing US intelligence sources. The Islamic group reportedly said it had intended to fire five rockets, in protest of recent violence on the Temple Mount. The Katyusha rocket slammed into a field not far from Kiryat Shmona on Tuesday night, causing a fire but no casualties.
