Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon harshly criticized the UN Human Rights Council's report on the May 31 Israeli raid of a Gaza-bound flotilla, calling the findings "a big lie," Israel Radio reported on Thursday.

Ayalon reportedly made the comments while in New York for the yearly meeting of the UN General Assembly.

The UN Human Rights Council's fact-finding mission on Wednesday concluded that the naval blockade of Gaza was unlawful because of the humanitarian crisis there, and described the military raid on the flotilla as brutal and disproportionate.
