Egyptian military forces shot dead in the northern Sinai on Thursday two gunman allegedly linked to an Islamist militant group, Palestinian news agency Ma'an cited an Egyptian official as saying.

According to an Egyptian army spokesman, the soldiers - acting in line with an ongoing security campaign in the area - killed the gunman supposedly affiliated with Wahhabi groups after they hurled grenades toward the forces in the city of el-Arish.
