Report: Martin Indyk appointed US mediator for peace talks

Former US ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk was appointed the American mediator for the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, Israeli media reported on Sunday evening.

Indyk, who played a role in the Mideast peace talks during his two stints as American envoy to Israel in the 1990s, was previously quoted as saying he believes Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is a partner for peace.
