Report: Obama to appeal to Netanyahu, Abbas to adopt framework peace deal

US President Barack Obama will appeal to Israeli and Palestinian leadership to adopt a framework plan for final-status peace negotiations, The New York Times cited US administration official as saying this week.
According to the report published Thursday, the US president was gearing to take a more of an active role in the process when he first meets Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu next week, and later in March with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
During the respective meetings, Obama was reportedly expected to press the leaders of the two sides to agree to the framework document that is being drafted by US Secretary of State John Kerry.
“Now is a very timely opportunity for him to get involved,” an senior US official said on condition of anonymity.
