Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intends to ask US president Donald Trump to commute the life sentence of Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard to time served, Channel 2 reported. The report said Netanyahu would ask for the gesture in order to return to Israel with a tangible achievement.

Pollard is out on parole after serving 30 years in prison but he is subjected to strict parole conditions. Neither Pollard’s attorneys, nor the Free Pollard Campaign in Israel could confirm any contacts with the Trump administration since his election or that they had received word from Netanyahu that he would raise the issue with the president
