Russian President Dimitry Medvedev intends to announce in Ramallah his country's recognition of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders, the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper reported Tuesday.

Nabil Shaath, am advisor to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, told the newspaper that Medvedev will ratify the decision taken by the Soviet Union in 1988 to recognize a Palestinian state after Yasser Arafat declared independence.
