The Taliban held first talks with a US official about a future peace deal in Afghanistan, an official within the Radical Islamic group claims and ABC reports on Saturday.

The talk was held with US Diplomat Alice Wells during her stay in Qatar earlier this week, the official claimed. The administration of U.S President Donald Trump did not confirm, nor deny, the report. If true, this would be the first time the US engaged directly with the Taliban in a negotiation process.
