Report: US prepares to arm Syrian rebels within a month

The US Central Intelligence Agency has started a weapons transfer to Jordan, from a range of classified warehouses, to prepare for arming select groups of Syrian rebels within a month, The Wall Street Journal cited US officials as acknowledging on Wednesday.
The alleged move came after US President Barack Obama earlier in the month had ordered the CIA to provide light weaponry to rebels in Syria, as opposition groups continue to lose ground.
The Journal cited US diplomats and officials as describing new details of the American initiative to support the Syrian opposition, which involved the provisions of "small arms, ammunition, and possibly certain types of antitank missiles," in addition to involvement by Saudi Arabia to ensure close, regional monitoring of provisions.
