Rescue services launch frantic search for missing hiker near Dead Sea

Large contingents of police and rescue services are engaged in a frantic search for a Rehovot man who went missing while on a hike in Ein Gedi, near the banks of the Dead Sea.

Shai Ya’akov Noam, 31, went missing in the area, and all contact with him was lost earlier on Friday.

According to local media, Noam’s vehicle was found abandoned near Ein Gedi, prompting security forces to initiate a manhunt.

Israel has been rocked this weekend by inclement weather that has brought accumulated snow, heavy winds, and precipitous rain.
