The color red alert was sounded throughout the southern Gaza belt region as rockets emanating from the Hamas-controlled enclave were shot into Israel. The Iron Dome anti-missile system was activated.


A ceasefire was supposed to have been reached by 11:00pm Israel-time but rockets the latest barrage was launched after the deadline.
No hits in Israel were identified. There are no casualties. Damage was caused to power line and several civilians were treated for shock stated Adi Meiri, spokeswoman for Shaar Hanegev Regional Council, which is located near Gaza.


Gaza was a territory of Israel from 1967 until the Disengagement of 2005.
