Rouhani: Iran poses no threat to the world, the region

In his first address to the UN General Assembly as Iran's President, Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday said "Iran poses no threat to the world and the region. He added that, "in ideals and in actual practice, Iran has been a harborer of peace".
According to Rouhani, the government in Tehran was prepared to engage immediately in "time-bound" talks on the Iranian nuclear program.
Rouhani invited the international community to undertake in efforts to guide the world toward a "coalition" of peace, instead of the current "coalitions of war".
In regard to the concern over the possibility of Tehran harboring its nuclear program for the use of atomic weapons, Rouhani said these "imaginary threats" have been used as excuses to justify sanctions on Iran.
