Russia's UN envoy has told a government newspaper that a strong response to North Korea is needed, but the country shouldn't be isolated.
Ambassador Vitaly Churkin is also quoted as telling Rossiskaya Gazeta in an interview published Tuesday that the six-nation talks aimed at resolving the standoff on the Korean peninsula should be resumed as soon as possible.
UN diplomats have struggled to get support for a strong response to North Korea's recent nuclear and missile tests. Security Council members Russia and China are reluctant to back punitive sanctions.
