The passage of the sanctions resolution against Iran precludes the option of using force against Iran, Russia said in the aftermath of the UN Security Council vote to impose a fourth round of sanctions on Iran for pursuing nuclear arms Wednesday, in a remark clearly aimed at Israeli and US ears.

In a interview on ABC's “The Morning Show” in April, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that if Israel were to strike Iran it would be a catastrophe, possibly developing into nuclear conflict.
