Russia says Syrian army repels Islamic State attacks on Palmyra

MOSCOW - Syria's army repelled all attacks by Islamic State militants on the ancient city of Palmyra overnight with support from Russian air strikes, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

The ministry said Russian jets carried out 64 strikes during the operation, killing more than 300 militants.
